Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Harman,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to give you some suggestions to make your camping holiday more enjoyable.
As I know you are interested on outdoor activities, I think it will be beneficial for you to spend time in nature while exploring scenic views on your camping location. Also, it will give you a short break from your monotonous schedule that will help you to refresh your mind and body.
The only drawback is that you can face connectivity issues while camping in remote areas. Since sometimes internet connection is unstable in the rural locations, you can face difficulties using applications on your phone that can be frustrating.
I tried to join you for this outting, but due to my professional commitments, I would not be able to go with you. I hope you will spend extremely fun time during this trip. I would love to know your experience about camping.
Best wishes,
Gurleen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three points: you explain why Harman may enjoy being outdoors, mention a possible drawback, and clearly say you cannot join because of work commitments. The advice about scenic views and a break from a monotonous schedule is relevant, but the reasons for enjoyment are only briefly developed; a specific example, such as activities or the chance to spend time with friends, would make them more convincing. The disadvantage is also quite narrow, focusing only on internet access. Your decision not to go is clear, although the task asks whether you would like to go, so explicitly saying that you would enjoy joining if circumstances allowed would make your position more complete. The friendly closing suits the purpose of the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: an opening, reasons to go, a disadvantage, your availability, and a friendly sign-off. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these parts, and links such as “Also” and “Since” show how ideas relate. The progression is generally easy to follow, though some connections feel mechanical or slightly unclear. For example, “Since sometimes internet connection is unstable” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence, and the repeated “you can” makes the drawback less fluid. The opening says you are offering suggestions, but the letter does not give practical advice, so aligning that introduction with the content would improve cohesion. A more natural transition into your own plans would also help the letter flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a friendly letter, including relevant expressions such as “outdoor activities,” “scenic views,” “monotonous schedule,” and “professional commitments.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the tone is generally appropriate. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural word choices and collocations. “Interested on” is not the usual pairing, “camping on your camping location” is awkward, and “spend extremely fun time” does not express the intended meaning naturally. “Outting” is also misspelled. These issues do not prevent understanding, but more precise, natural phrasing would strengthen the letter. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling, especially in less familiar vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including the relative clause in “a short break from your monotonous schedule that will help you” and the conditional structure “Since sometimes internet connection is unstable…”. Most of the message remains understandable, and errors do not generally obstruct communication. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain: “interested on” uses the wrong preposition, “the internet connection” or “an internet connection” needs an article, and “I hope you will spend extremely fun time” is missing an article before “time.” The sentence beginning “Since” is also awkwardly constructed as a standalone explanation. To improve, check articles and prepositions, and make sure subordinate clauses are attached to a complete, natural sentence.
