Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that crime stories are popular because they teach people about crime and personal safety, and you state that they are beneficial. The neighbourhood anecdote gives a relevant example of someone recognising a possible danger after watching crime dramas. However, the reasons for the genre’s popularity are not clearly separated from its supposed educational value, and the example is difficult to follow. Your opinion appears mainly in the conclusion, where you call these programmes “very good for us,” but it is not explained in a balanced or developed way. To strengthen the response, explain more directly why audiences enjoy crime fiction—for example, suspense or solving a mystery—and develop your view with a clear reason and a focused example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic overall shape, with an opening, a discussion of crime dramas, an example, and a conclusion. The neighbourhood story is intended to support your point about learning to stay safe. However, the progression is hard to follow because several ideas are joined together in long, unclear sequences, and the opening does not establish a clear direction. Connectors such as “because,” “and,” and “when” are repeated, while references such as “they,” “him,” and “her” make it difficult to identify who is being discussed. Use separate paragraphs for the reasons, your example, and your opinion. Then use clear links such as “One reason,” “For instance,” and “In my view,” and make each pronoun’s reference unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary includes relevant topic words such as “crime rate,” “criminal,” “dangerous,” “dramas,” and “novels,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to understand. For example, “more advance” does not express the intended idea clearly, and “police vane” appears to refer to a police van. There are also repeated forms such as “crime” and “learn,” alongside spelling errors including “descus,” “incidence,” and “childern.” Build a more precise set of topic expressions and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe viewers as learning to “recognise warning signs” or “take precautions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to express cause, time, and conditional relationships, as in “because they wants” and “When she see them,” but these structures are often inaccurate. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur frequently: “I seen,” “they wants,” and “she tells” in the past-tense story. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also unreliable; the opening fragments “This essay about of crime” and “How held in our society” do not form clear sentences, and punctuation is often missing or misplaced. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, while longer attempts become difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense consistency, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation. Shorter, accurate sentences would make your ideas much easier to understand.
