Student answer (Band 7.0)
In this day and age, books and TV shows related to crime have gained considerable fame in numerous nations. I reckon that crime dramas and novels are well-known because they create excitement and thrill among the population, and their suspense keeps a person hooked until the end. I opine that crime fiction and series spread awareness among citizens and make them clever.
There are various reasons for crime novels and series to be famous among residents of different countries. The key cause is people finding it amusing and thrilling. When a person watches crime TV shows, they develop curiosity about what happens next. Eventually, they become addicted to crime books and shows. Furthermore, the suspense it creates will make a person excited to see the whole TV drama till the end. Due to the suspense, a person experience adrenaline rush in their body, which makes them unable to leave the novels or series halfway but ends up watching it fully. For example, according to new research, around 90% of individuals finished the crime thrillers in one sitting rather than watching it in parts. Hence, it is widely likable because of its capability to hooked people.
As per my point of view, frictions and TV dramas related to crime should be watch by everyone. As crime has been increase a lot in the nation, I believe people should watch those dramas to learn about the way people do crime. This helps them to protect themselves from criminals and spread awareness among natives. For instance, crime series such as CID shows different cases regarding crime and also make people aware about the crimes happens nowadays. Moreover, reading crime novels makes a person smart enough to save themselves from people who commits crime. It also shows ways that how individuals can protect themselves from danger. Therefore, I think watching crime TV shows and reading novels is a best way to be aware of surroundings.
In summary, books and TV shows of crime make people hooked with TV until the last episodes and create excitement due to suspense. I think they should watch it regularly to know what is happening in the country and how they can protect themselves from it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion. You have a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the explanation of 'suspense' and 'adrenaline' in the second paragraph is a bit circular. To reach a higher band, try to expand on the psychological or sociological reasons for this popularity, such as the human fascination with the 'dark side' of society or the cathartic nature of solving mysteries. The personal opinion section is relevant, though the argument that crime dramas make people 'clever' or 'smart' could be more nuanced by focusing on critical thinking or awareness of safety protocols.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Hence', and 'In summary' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the popularity of crime shows and the personal opinion section is functional but could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences, such as 'Due to the suspense, a person experience adrenaline rush', could be better connected to the previous clause to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'adrenaline rush', 'suspense', and 'awareness'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'frictions' instead of 'fiction' and 'widely likable' instead of 'widely liked' or 'popular'. Additionally, the phrase 'make them clever' is a bit simplistic for an IELTS essay. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('crime has been increase', 'a person experience', 'people who commits crime') and passive voice errors ('should be watch'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to verb forms and pluralization. Incorporating more varied complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, while ensuring they are error-free, would help you achieve a higher score.
