Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation for why these shows are popular is brief, focusing mainly on the desire to 'stay alert.' The personal opinion is presented, but it lacks depth and critical analysis. The response relies heavily on a single personal anecdote rather than a broader discussion of the genre's appeal or societal impact. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning and explore different perspectives on why crime fiction is a global phenomenon.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. While some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'For instance' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I have a horrible experience related to the topic writing now I am discussing on.' The overall structure lacks a clear conclusion, which makes the essay feel unfinished. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'getting more advanced' and 'getting popular' are used, which lack precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'the crime rate are rising above day by day' and 'how the people getting victimize.' The range of vocabulary is limited to everyday language, and there is little attempt to use topic-specific terminology related to media, psychology, or literature. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated synonyms for common verbs and adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the crime rate are rising'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'it doesn't matter which country is.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Focusing on basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for punctuation errors will help improve your accuracy.
