Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern world, books and shows are very famous. it becomes the hot topic that why crime related movies and poetries are more attracting individuals then any other type of novels. In this essay I will not only discuss my point of views but also provide valid reasons.
Undoubtedly, the technology is augmenting day by day. People especially young generation are using internet almost every minute of their life. Youngsters follow some celebrities such as Salman Khan who is making movies related to drugs and weapons. As a result, his followers admire him and follow what they are watching on social media. In a survey, for instance, over a half percent of students in the New York city want to carry a gun with them because their favorite actor has one.
In my personal perspective, I strongly believe not only parents but also teachers should focus on teenagers and try to inform them about the negative impacts of those serials. In addition to this, Government should also try to instruct sensor board that not to pass films which relate directly or indirectly with terror activities.
Overall, actors should avoid to make scenes where they promote illegal stuff, and start working on projects which can educate our new generation. Furthermore, parents should keep an eye on their children as they do not know merits and demerits of crime based stories. If we focus on solutions rather then problems, it will be win win situation for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the score. While the essay identifies reasons for the popularity of crime fiction, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding celebrities influencing youth is a relevant point, but it is not fully explored in relation to the specific appeal of crime dramas. Furthermore, the essay focuses heavily on the negative impact of crime media rather than balancing the discussion with why people find these stories entertaining or engaging. The position is clear, but the overall development is limited by the brevity of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In addition to this', 'Furthermore'). Some transitions feel forced, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the popularity of crime novels and the specific example of a film actor. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural, sophisticated connection of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. The student uses basic terms like 'very famous' and 'hot topic', which are somewhat informal. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'making movies related to drugs' and 'instruct sensor board'. While the meaning is generally clear, the student does not demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary or the ability to use less common lexical items with precision. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and varied synonyms to express complex ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'it becomes the hot topic that why crime related movies... are more attracting individuals then any other type', where the word order and word choice ('attracting' vs 'attractive') are incorrect. There are also issues with article usage ('in the New York city') and verb patterns ('avoid to make'). While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence construction is needed.
