Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays crime novels and crime dramas are becoming increasingly popular in many countries. I think the books and the TV serials related to crime are quite popular. In further paragraphs i will discuss the reasons behind the same along with my opinion.
To begin with Dramas and books related to crime are famous in today's generation as they are more interested in knowing types to crimes happening in the world and how criminals play mind games and do the murder, rape and much more. Moreover these are interesting stories that generates curiosity and excitement among people when it turns to finding the criminals that creates suspense and later on punishing them. Additionally many individuals gets aware about how lawbreakers influence the victim and the techniques used by them so that in real life they don't fall in such a trap and be aware of such situations.
Moving further i think these tv dramas or crime fiction makes public more aware about the different scenarios and in these situations how to react and people watching these serials are more attentive that helps them to be safe and they can read the intentions of other person more easily. Further i believe more people should watch these serials and read books as they provide the knowledge.
To conclude we can say more and more people in todays world should read the crime novels and watch series related to crime as it makes them more attentive and aware of crimes that can happen though its not recommended for people with sensitive heart.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for popularity and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the claim that crime dramas help people avoid being trapped in real life is a broad generalization that lacks specific evidence or logical depth. The position is clear, but the arguments are repetitive, focusing heavily on 'awareness' without exploring other psychological or entertainment-based reasons for the genre's popularity. To improve, you should provide more nuanced examples or explore different perspectives, such as the thrill of mystery-solving or the cathartic nature of seeing justice served.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'Moving further' and 'To begin with' are used, but the internal flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For instance, the transition from discussing mind games to the benefit of safety awareness feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'famous', 'interesting', and 'good'. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'lawbreakers', 'victim', and 'suspense', there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'do the murder' and 'sensitive heart'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to the genre, such as 'gripping narratives', 'psychological thrillers', or 'criminological insights', rather than repeating simple descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'stories that generates', 'individuals gets aware'), missing articles, and punctuation errors, such as the lack of commas after introductory phrases. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules. Focusing on sentence variety and ensuring subject-verb consistency will significantly improve your score.
