Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now a days in many countries, TV crime dramas and crime novels are getting more and more popular. I think these type of crime fiction and TV crime dramas are very interesting.
In my opinion, people are getting addicted to this type of dramas. Because of their short time stories. For example, there is a show named as CID also known as Crime Investigation Department in my country. This show is based on how people are doing crimes and how police is arresting the people who are doing crimes. The run-time of this show is an hour. In recent times, all age people are getting attracted.
In addition, this type of crime novels are also getting very popular because of their suspense in the novel. And they are also marketing about the novel. For example their is novel which is called as crime patrol it is very famous novel. According to me their should be age limit to see this type of tv crime dramas. Because, this will attract some people to do crimes. So, it is not recommended to watch this type of shows. I would also say that this type of dramas and novels are not very good for people. Due to this the peoples way of thinking might affect a lot and they will get negativity in their brains. So, I will strongly suggest this type of crime novels and TV crime dramas should be banned.
To conclude, Government should not give permission to this kind of crime novels and TV dramas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and a personal opinion. However, the development is limited. The reasons provided (short stories, suspense) are somewhat superficial and lack depth. The opinion is clear but relies on a simplistic argument that crime dramas should be banned, which is not fully supported by logical reasoning. The example of 'CID' is relevant, but the claim that 'Crime Patrol' is a novel is factually incorrect, as it is a well-known television series. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more sophisticated analysis rather than relying on generalisations about negativity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For instance, the use of 'Because of their short time stories' as a sentence fragment is a cohesion error. Transitions like 'In addition' and 'To conclude' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when shifting between the discussion of TV shows and novels. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'dramas', 'novels', and 'crime'. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'marketing about the novel' or 'peoples way of thinking might affect a lot'. There are also errors in word form and collocation, such as 'all age people' instead of 'people of all ages'. To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing and to express your ideas with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is novel', 'there should be age limit'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence 'Because of their short time stories' is a fragment and should be connected to the preceding sentence. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be highly beneficial.
