Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons for popularity and providing an opinion. However, the development is limited, and the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the score. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the argument about 'learning to be safe' is mentioned in the introduction and conclusion but lacks specific, well-explained examples. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed illustrations and ensure you meet the minimum word count to fully develop your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'Second and most important reason of the widespread of these fiction'. Some transitions feel forced, and the logical progression between sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'provides insight how to be save' and 'indulge with the story'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Using more sophisticated synonyms for common words will help demonstrate a better command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Predominant reason is it provides insight', 'crime fictions is popular', and 'different situation may arise'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex sentence structures will significantly improve your performance.
