Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent world the crime novels and tv crime dramas are becoming most watching rating is higher than news and documentaries. This essay will explore why it is becoming popular.
Firstly, youngster get bored from typical domestic stories based dramas which only portraits' negativity and pessimistic approach. which ultimately trigger emotionally .Moreover, the news and talk shows only discuss politics, recession, inflation, economy' declining, and depressing issues. These also cause of disappointment among adults and students .they found them out of entertainment so they prefer to watch trilling dramas, movies, documentaries, these visual dramas make them real understanding of actual crime rates, how to mitigate those certainties. For instance in my college life most of friend read novels that contain thrilled stories TAWAN SERIES, for instance and this book was available in kind of episodes and we used to exchange books by episodes . Moreover a Drama series was telecast on prime time named ''CID'' all of my mates watched that series regularly and we used to discuss each episode every story. Furthermore, we allot books from library on crime based stories and readout with in hours .I found this a greater source of escalating knowledge in youngers about crime and it's consequences .
All in all, my opinion is agreed on reason that nowadays tv dramas are bored and based less motivated topics so it is good to watch trilling films and dramas because, these films depicts crimes commuting along its ultimate consequences .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why crime dramas are popular and the writer's opinion. However, the development is somewhat limited. The ideas regarding 'boredom' with domestic dramas and the 'depressing' nature of news are relevant but could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning. The response is also slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the 'CID' series, are personal and anecdotal, which is acceptable but could be integrated more smoothly into a broader analysis of the genre's appeal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into three paragraphs, which is a basic structure. While there is a logical progression, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Moreover' is used frequently, and some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical links, such as the transition between the discussion of news and the mention of 'trilling' dramas. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is quite brief and does not effectively summarise the main points or provide a strong concluding thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'most watching rating', 'economy' declining', and 'trilling' (likely intended as 'thrilling'). The phrase 'allot books' is also used incorrectly in this context. While the writer attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'mitigate' and 'consequences', the overall range is limited, and errors in word formation occasionally hinder the flow of the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences often contain grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'youngster get bored'), punctuation (e.g., unnecessary apostrophes in 'portraits''), and sentence fragments. The misuse of articles and prepositions is also noticeable throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
