Student answer (Band 6.5)
Increasing demand for Crime novels and TV crime dramas in many nations has made everyone to think of the reason of that popularity. I think this is because the novels and dramas are full of action, suspense and it makes people think more on solving those problems.
One reason for the popularity of these kind of novels and roleplays are it provides curiosity to people, people love finding clues and solving cases. This novels create so many diffrent scenarios in their mind which helps body release diffrent excitement hormons which makes them feel very happy. Many movies also shows intellegence team working togeather to solve those criminal investigation, which motivates other people to maybe join police department or atleast think critically about the situation.
Secound reason i could think of is people love enjoying this type of actions while being in the safe environment. The point of view camara angles make them feel that they are present in that situation and mordern dramas include current situations as curruption, Global polution, Inflation which creates realestic stories, which allows people to imagine the situation which doesn't really exist, but still gives an opprtunity to feel them.
personally I love those kind of dramas, I am not a very big fan of novels but I have read a few of them. One of my favorite drama would be game of thrones, which again has a lots of war and crimes in it, which is very intresting to see but doesn't really affect the real world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding 'excitement hormones' is a bit vague and lacks depth. The personal opinion section is brief and could have been expanded to better justify why the writer enjoys these genres. While the response is on-topic, the ideas are not fully extended, which limits the score. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed reasoning or specific examples beyond a brief mention of 'Game of Thrones'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the reasons and finally the personal opinion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'One reason', 'Secound reason'). Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the start of the final paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'diffrent', 'hormons', 'intellegence', 'togeather', 'curruption', 'polution', 'realestic', and 'intresting'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distracting. While the writer attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'criminal investigation' and 'critical thinking', the overall lexical control is limited. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and incorporating more precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'made everyone to think' (should be 'made everyone think'), 'these kind of novels' (should be 'these kinds of novels'), and 'Many movies also shows' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
