Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is generally seen that in a number of nations launching TV programs and novels which related to crime become more and more popular in among youngster. While few people reckon that it is creates positive effect on adults, others believe that somehow it is bad for everyone and I will discuss my opinion in the following paragraphs.

To commence with, as technology ameliorating day by day due to this people have a enough spare time to read this kind of books or and watch crime series on television and their favorite acters post online about their new series on social media like Instagram or Facebook. To elaborate it, nowadays, young people love to watch crime shows because they become more popular in their country and they have a lot of curiosity to watch that movies which related to suspense and it's also gain their knowledge about crimes, which is beneficial for them. So, that's why they watch or read thriller movies. For Instance, the name of the series is 'Pretam and Pedro' which is available on Netflix and millions of people watch this series in just in a one day just because of their interest and this is popular among their friends.

Despite the above mentioned, in my view, thriller movies or novels are connect to their interest, apart from this, it is show a bad influence on the young people like they want to do same crimes which are mentioned in the story. To explain it, when individuals watch movies and they want to try mimic their favorite actors and commit crimes like them. When a person commits a crime it ruins their entire future and according to the higher authority they punished in strict way such as being sent into jail for 4 to 5 years. Thus, they become a criminal and spoil their whole life. This kinds of TV shoes not only distract children but also makes them more aggressive and prone to violent behavior.

In conclusion, although watching crime serials are good activity for everyone, it's result are very bad for a person or for a nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While you mention curiosity and social media as reasons for popularity, the explanation remains superficial. Your opinion is stated, but the argument that crime dramas cause viewers to 'mimic' crimes and 'ruin their entire future' is a significant over-generalization that lacks nuanced support. To improve, ensure that your arguments are logically extended with more realistic examples rather than relying on extreme claims. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not fully summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between and within them is often hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive transitions. For example, 'Despite the above mentioned' is not a standard way to introduce a counter-argument or a new perspective. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'To elaborate it' or 'To explain it'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms and occasionally use words incorrectly, such as 'ameliorating' (which is usually used for situations, not technology) and 'acters' (spelling error). Phrases like 'higher authority they punished in strict way' are unnatural and imprecise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Avoid repeating simple words like 'crime' or 'movies' and try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to media and psychology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it is creates'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they punished'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'in a one day just because of their interest'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
