Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's modern world, crime shows and offense related books are gaining popularity day by day. This is becoming a trend, like mostly folks watch such shows and read criminal chapters, just out of curiosity, need entertainment, similar life experiences, get trigger by emotions. In my opinion, watching such shows and gaining knowledge from books is beneficial only if in limit.
Mostly individuals people follow the trend, if there is burning issue in the society. So, getting themselves educated even out of curiosity or interest is essential for needy people. For example, getting a beforehand information through any crime show or any avoid rape books could save the life of most vulnerable ones like, girls, children or the senior citizens. Some people are having similar experiences in life, so when they watch such shows or get knowledge from books, get better understanding that they are not the only one, this is happened before with many. So, getting such awareness could save someone's life, who is about to end his life just because of any tragedy in life.
On the other hand, due to dullness of life, few find such shows more interesting, watch the crime related series for their entertainment. Despite having other sources of enjoyment, they start showing their interest in offensive things for breaking the monotonous of their hectic routine. It is most important to do such things in control as it could be harmful at an individual level and for the society too. For instance, a news published by The World newspaper, during a data collection from the criminal record center, it was revealed that most of the culprits confess that they did crimes after watching number of TV crime dramas.
To conclude, I believe that reading the offensive books or watching crime related TV shows could be beneficial if it is for knowledge, however making such shows in control like avoid vulgarity is important to run the society smoothly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and a personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the educational value of crime shows and the potential for desensitization. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'avoid rape books' is unclear and lacks sufficient explanation, and the connection between entertainment and criminal behavior is a bit generalized. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the reference to 'The World newspaper,' are vague and could be more effectively integrated to strengthen the argument. Overall, the response meets the requirements but would benefit from more precise elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Mostly individuals people follow the trend' or 'Despite having other sources of enjoyment'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between 'similar life experiences' and 'not the only one' is slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'monotonous' and 'vulnerable', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'offense related books' instead of 'crime fiction' or 'criminal chapters'. Some phrasing is unnatural, such as 'get trigger by emotions' and 'breaking the monotonous'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and the errors in collocation occasionally draw attention to the language rather than the content.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this is happened'), missing articles ('a news published'), and awkward sentence construction ('making such shows in control'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and comma splices. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
