Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this era, people have number of source for their entertainment.
It has been noticed, in many nations individuals are very interested to watch TV shows and to read articles about crime. In the following paragraph I would discuss about the reason are responsible behind this trend.
In my point of view, in these days people enjoy action movies, these kind of pictures shows the anti social activities which culprits use to do. Apart from that, some books and TV shows are based on the true story of crimes. According to me these kind of dramas should be ban, because it not only put bad impact on children, but also adults also commit crime while watching these type of serials, for intense people get ideas from the story of the shows how to kidnap someone.
Furthermore, during these days digital market is on peak in all over the world. as everything is online there are number of scammers who steal money with the help of technology with the blink of an eye. The major reason of being famous of these dramas, as these shows creates an awareness among the people how they can protect themselves from the scammers. In addition, the dramas which has stories regarding the crime is full of suspense that's why people are more keen toward these serials as compared to others.
To conclude, in my point of view watching crime shows, or reading books which are based on criminals has many merits and demerits, but its negative impact on individuals can not be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why crime media is popular and the writer's opinion. However, the development is somewhat limited. The reasons provided—entertainment value, educational awareness, and suspense—are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is clear, but the argument regarding the negative impact of these shows is slightly contradictory, as the writer also acknowledges their educational value. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear logical links rather than just listing ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Apart from that', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the prompt, which helps the reader follow the argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'anti social activities' and 'scammers', but there are also instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'pictures shows' instead of 'films depict' and 'on peak' instead of 'at its peak'. Some errors, like 'for intense' (meant to be 'for instance'), slightly detract from the overall quality, but they do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('dramas which has stories', 'these shows creates') and article usage ('the reason are responsible'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in sentence construction. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the writer's intended meaning. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic agreement errors would improve the score.
