Student answer (Band 5.5)
Today among the growing youth and children in many nations it is seen that crime novels and TV crime series are increasing tremendously. This might be because today's generations are always in search of exploring something new in terms of novel and dramas. I believe that considering TV crime dramas and crime novels for entertainment is good but one should not develop the sense of crime or violence.
To start with, crime novels and TV crime dramas provides the mean of suspense, action thriller and mystery and the people are in search of such dramas and novels. For instance, one such series came in market was 'Money Heist' that was originally a spanish series but it gained global popularity with its content and theirs actors. One gets to see about the action, suspence and action thriller all together in this series. People mainly prefer to watch and read these kind of stories as to get entertained and relaxed from their stressful life.
However,I believe that such kind of dramas and novels can sometime leads to dissatisfaction towards the society as individual tries to immitate such scene in real which harms the society. For example, if kids watch such series and read crime novels it will spoil their upbringing by developing the sense of such vicious crimes of threathing, killing, robbery and eventually it will create chaos in society. One should teach them that these series and novels are only fictional and only the medium for entertainment and one should not try such stunt as it will put them in even more serious situation. So i believe that one should be mature enough to take such genre of TV dramas and novels as only the means of entertainment otherwise it will have a negative impact on society if anyone tries to immitate in real life.
To conclude, despite being famous in terms of entertainment among the youth I believe that one should first be mature enough to not try the stunts of TV crime dramas and crime novels in real life as it may be dangerous.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and a personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the need for entertainment and the potential for negative social influence. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the discussion of children and imitation. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. For example, the explanation of why people find these genres entertaining is a bit simplistic, focusing only on 'stressful life' without exploring the psychological appeal of mystery or suspense in greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons for popularity from the personal opinion. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'To start with', 'However', and 'To conclude', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be improved to create a smoother progression of ideas. The use of linking words is sufficient to guide the reader through the argument without confusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'vicious', 'imitate', and 'dissatisfaction'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'provides the mean of suspense' (should be 'means of providing suspense') and 'came in market' (should be 'hit the market'). Spelling errors like 'spanish', 'suspence', 'threathing', and 'immitate' occur, which slightly detracts from the overall quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('dramas provides') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and the capitalization of 'i'. While the writer attempts complex sentences, these often contain errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
