Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for popularity and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why people enjoy suspense is repetitive, focusing on 'curiosity' without exploring deeper psychological reasons. The opinion section is also brief and lacks depth, merely stating that the writer likes these shows because they are 'new and different'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, analytical reasons and ensure your personal opinion is clearly articulated and supported with more substantial reasoning rather than simple statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'That things makes more interest' and 'To be concluded' are used awkwardly. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from streaming platforms to the nature of suspense is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'that' to refer to broad concepts. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'very much interest', 'very famous', and 'good' (implied). There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'all answers are hide at the end' instead of 'hidden' and 'most type of of videos has been watched'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or topic-specific collocations would improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('each are with different story'), incorrect verb forms ('cannot stops public'), and article usage ('the public' vs 'public'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
