Student answer (Band 5.5)
Undoubtedly, crime has been increasing at an alarming rate with each passing day. Even, nowadays, crime based shows and novels are being preferred by the public in many nations . There are myriad of reasons for the popularity of these dramas and crime fiction. which I will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs along my opinion.
The first and foremost reason is spreading awareness and provide information about the consequence of committing crime. Producers broadcast the crime scene in the shows in order to aware people about what is happening in their surroundings. As some heinous crime are not tolerable, harsh punishment is given to the criminal which set a example for other not to involve themselves in such activities. Additionally, youngsters easily led astray from the path and encourage them to follow the easy way of making money. with this shows, parents can teach their children such activity are not good for them.
However, according to my opinion, these shows should be banned because after watching crimes in the movies and shows, foster young adult to commit such crimes. Ultimately, this is not good for the society. If more criminal are in the society, more chaos are happen in the society. Also, I think that if such shows are air on the Tv with proper warning then it would create fear among the individuals. So, people will think twice before committing any crime.
In conclusion, although crime tv dramas involve action and a great source of entertainment, it would create negative impact on the life of the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for popularity and your personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention awareness and entertainment, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about youngsters being led astray is mentioned in the first paragraph as something parents can teach their children about, but then you argue for a ban in the second paragraph. This creates a contradiction in your position. To improve, ensure your arguments are fully extended with clear, logical examples rather than jumping between conflicting viewpoints. The position is stated but lacks a cohesive, well-supported argument throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'In conclusion', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, such as the start of the second paragraph. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when you use 'this shows' or 'such activity' without a clear antecedent. The logical progression is hindered by the contradictory arguments presented between the first and second paragraphs. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, clear point would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'heinous crime' and 'alarming rate', but there is also repetitive use of basic words like 'shows', 'society', and 'crime'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'aware people' (should be 'make people aware') and 'shows are air on the Tv' (should be 'shows are aired on TV'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and ensure that your word choices are grammatically appropriate for the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('more criminal are', 'more chaos are happen') and incorrect verb forms ('provide information' instead of 'providing information'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of misplaced commas and fragments. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy significantly.
