Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent era, crime related tv shows and novels are getting more popularity in all around world . There are some reasons behind this trend , and it has both negative and positive impact on people's lives. which I am going to discuss in following paragraphs.
To begin with, why crime related tv shows and novels are getting famous nowadays. firstly, mostly crime related shows are based on real life examples. To make it more clear, most of the shows and novels are made on real life incedent which gives an idea to many people about how they can be safe at there home and workplace. For example, there is recent tv show on Netflix Delhi crime , which is based on gang rap ,which was happed in the year 2009 in Delhi and through this show many girls can get an idea of how to be safe and careful at their surroundings. In addition, this type of show can add suspense and thrill so people can not leave their seats till the end.
On the one hand, these trend has positive side that people can get an idea that how to be aware in this world and what steps they can take if some thing happened with them .
On the other hand, every coin has two sides so this trend has drawback as well . firstly, this kind of shows are available on television without any kind of subscription due to which many adults got easily got influence by watching crime shows as a result, it might affect someone's life as well.
To Conclude, crime shows and novels are based on real life incident and create suspense that's the biggest reasons of this trend . Nonetheless, it has advantage and disadvantage also. In my opinion , this type of shows and novels should be available for some age group only .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's opinion. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention that shows are based on 'real life incidents' and provide the example of 'Delhi Crime', the explanation of why this makes them popular is repetitive. The opinion section is brief and lacks depth; you suggest age restrictions but do not fully explore the implications of your stance. To improve, ensure that each reason is supported by a more detailed explanation or a broader range of examples to fully develop your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the one hand', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the popularity of the shows and the discussion of their impact is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'these trend' (plural/singular mismatch). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'crime related tv shows and novels' and 'get an idea'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'incedent' (spelling), 'happed' (verb form), and 'got easily got influence'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic, such as 'gripping narratives', 'societal implications', or 'dramatisation of criminal activities', and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these trend has'), missing articles (e.g., 'in all around world'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb tenses would be highly beneficial.
