Student answer (Band 5.0)

Here i would like to share my opiniun about crime novels and TV shows.

First of all in todays world crime has growing day by day all over the world that,s why people like to read crime novels and plus even they like to watch on TV.

If u see there is a series on TV which is called "CRIME PETROL" where its most like by the people .It is based on true story and in some part of world this crimes are really done.

Now if we talk about TV shows people are more interested in reality shows because they use slang languages and they speak truth about themself to know how they had to struggle in life. Now new generations are following this kinds of steps. First they try to become a influencer and they try to go to reality shows so that they can also try to come to TV shows .

Specially in India now a days TV shows are becoming more popular because day by day channels are becoming more and thats the reason TV shows are growing in each channels. Population in India either they are old people, middle age, youngster like to watch all the TV shows.

But here is my opiniun about all this TV shows and crime is that its not good for young generation because its give a bad impact plus they can not concentrate in there studies and yes even its better to keep them away from crime novel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is inconsistent. While you identify reasons for the popularity of crime shows, the discussion shifts abruptly to reality TV shows, which is not the focus of the task. The opinion section is brief and lacks depth, offering a general statement about the negative impact on youth without providing specific examples or a well-reasoned argument. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly relates to the prompt and expand your ideas with more detailed explanations and relevant examples to demonstrate a clearer position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the paragraphing is ineffective, with ideas jumping between crime dramas and reality television without logical transitions. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'and' and 'now'. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the link between the popularity of crime shows and the subsequent discussion on reality TV is not established. Using clear topic sentences and linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' would significantly improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'slang languages' (slang is a type of language, not a plural noun) and 'this kinds of steps'. Some phrasing is informal or awkward, such as 'its most like by the people'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'gripping narratives', 'societal influence', or 'fictional portrayals', and avoid informal conversational fillers.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('crimes are really done'), incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of commas and apostrophes ('today,s', 'its' instead of 'it's'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'Population in India either they are old people...' is syntactically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common punctuation errors before submitting your work.
