Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this recent years, crime has become widespread in day to day life. In many countries crime novels and TV crime are supported by individuals. There are several reasons which considers that why it is more liked by today's generation. In my opinion, I personally believe that these kind of dramas are influenced youngsters on the negative path.

One of the main reason why young generation are supported these TV shows is they want to adopt that lifestyle in their personal life due to negative peer pressure they are thinking doing crime is a great work to show their personality. For example, most of people watch such dramas and want to copy the influencers by doing criminal activities such as threatening poor people by showing their ability and power. Moreover, people loves to read crime novels to learn in depth and gaining a great knowledge in all purpose.

However, although acting crime is dangerous, crime fiction and crime dramas are sometimes useful. It often includes mysteries where the reader tries to find out who committed the crime. To illustrate it, a detective novel about solving a murder case. Television shows that show crimes, investigations, police works, or legal cases through acting and episodes a series about detective solving different cases. These are effectively helps to deal with a circumstance and any dangerous situation in the life. Leaning such skills are very essential but sometimes people connect it too much with real life which put a negative impact on person's lifestyle.

In conclusion, even though watching and reading crime books and dramas are meaningful, making addiction has brings a detrimental affect on an individual's lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for popularity and your personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While you provide reasons for the popularity of crime fiction, the argument regarding the 'negative path' is a bit repetitive and lacks specific, well-supported examples. The link between watching crime dramas and individuals actually committing crimes is asserted rather than logically explained. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with clear, logical reasoning rather than general statements. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence could be more nuanced to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'These are effectively helps to deal with a circumstance'. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes repetitive or slightly awkward, which prevents the flow from being entirely natural. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'criminal activities', 'investigations', and 'detective novel'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'acting crime' instead of 'depicting crime' or 'making addiction has brings' which is grammatically and lexically incorrect. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more sophisticated synonyms will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'In this recent years' (should be 'In recent years'), 'why young generation are supported' (passive voice error), and 'These are effectively helps' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the proper construction of passive voice. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will be key to moving into the 7.0 band range.
