Student answer (Band 5.5)
In current world, expansion in reading books and watching TV shows are becoming trending due to increase in current crime rate around the globe. Reasons along with my opinion are mention below.
Firstly, main reason for to be popular is fiction crime novels and TV shows spread self awareness among individual. Increase in crime rate have made people read and watch these as it depicts real life stories. Apart from this, it is also interesting and full of curiosity and reflect meaningful story. For example, I was reading a Fiction novel called The Mars, It took almost a moth to complete the reading as it was not make me curious to further read it. Later, I started reading The Criminal I finished it with in day as it was so interesting, I would reading the book all day even if I'm travelling or Cooking.
According to me, I believe more of these books and programs should be promoted even though it some time creative negative impact on peoples mind as it is scary to watch fewer times but, the advantages to this outweigh disadvantage as it would let pupil know why not to be a criminal. Moreover. Kids would be aware about how people commit crime what they use to make you a victim. For Instance, I started watching The Criminal Justice which opened my mind regarding the how people convict crime and how someone has to be self aware to not be a victim. It also teaches how to protect yourselves. I learned a lot form this show.
To sum up, It is not a bad idea to make these Tv crime dramas as well as novels to help increase the popularity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention 'self-awareness' and 'real-life stories,' the explanation lacks depth. The example provided about 'The Criminal' is personal but does not fully explain why these genres are popular on a societal level. The position is clear, but the arguments are repetitive and rely on anecdotal evidence rather than broader analysis. To improve, focus on expanding your points with more logical reasoning rather than just personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, 'Apart from this' and 'Moreover' are used, but the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'it some time creative negative impact,' where the subject 'it' lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by the lack of sophisticated linking words and clear topic sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'interesting,' 'good,' and 'bad.' There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'convict crime' instead of 'commit a crime' and 'creative negative impact' instead of 'creates a negative impact.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of collocation and the repetition of simple words limit the score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to media, psychology, and crime.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('expansion... are becoming'), article usage ('the Mars'), and verb tense consistency ('I would reading'). Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complex forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While the meaning is usually understandable, the density of errors in basic structures prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement.
