To commence with, the crime series and movies released on OTT platforms are mostly based on real life events. Young generation like to watch those series and movies just because it is usually based on true events, which boosts interest in watching those series and movies. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding 'suspense' and 'solving puzzles' is a good start but lacks depth. The example provided (89% of youngsters) appears to be an invented statistic, which is not recommended in IELTS writing. Furthermore, the argument that crime shows 'spread awakening' is a bit repetitive and could have been supported with more nuanced reasoning. To reach a higher band, ensure that ideas are fully extended with logical explanations rather than relying on unsupported claims or generalizations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To commence with' and the repetitive phrasing in the conclusion ('This are this are my opinion'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would enhance the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'OTT platforms' and 'crime genre'. However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'spread the awakening' (instead of 'raise awareness') and 'criminal scene' (instead of 'criminal activity'). The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic words like 'series' and 'movies' suggests a need for more synonyms and collocations to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the crime novels'), subject-verb agreement ('this crime novels are', 'Indian series... has gain'), and verb tense ('had already took place'). Punctuation is mostly functional, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article usage, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures, such as conditional or relative clauses, while ensuring they remain error-free.
