Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that people watch these shows to learn how to solve issues, this point is not fully explained or supported with sufficient depth. The opinion section is clearer, but the argument regarding the 'negative side' is brief and lacks a strong connection to the overall position. To improve, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear, logical explanation or a more detailed example to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Additionally', and 'To sum up'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the popularity of crime shows and the benefits of watching them could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking words to connect ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often repetitive and lacks precision. You use basic terms like 'things' and 'good things', which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'thefting' (instead of 'theft' or 'burglary'), 'get learn' (instead of 'learn'), and 'promptelly' (spelling error). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'crimes have been increase'), article usage (e.g., 'in this advance era'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'how these fictional dramas affect positively to young generation'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and sentence structure.
