Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, crime novels and dramas have become increasingly popular. There are several reasons behind this trend as it is basically to attack people mindset, so they were addict to the novels and dramas.
Starting with major reason, viewers want to discover who commit the crime and what happen next and how the officer solve the puzzle because of that crime will became the trending topic in novels and dramas. After that the anther reason was that in these types of dramas have many twist and plots which viewers like to see the most because of that crime dramas were trending today. For instant, Money hessite drama was on the top and people love to watch because of their twist and curiosity to know the end.
To illustrate my opinion, I think crime fiction topics are not that bad to watch to explain this people who don't aware of such crimes by watching that they know how to handle that situation. Moreover, children will know what the Prons and cons are of doing different thing this will increase the mindset of youth. For example, reading books related to crime as they will know if by any chance, they face that crime what they have to do to save themselves.
In conclusion, crime novels and dramas were famous because of their suspense and twists that attack viewers the most and it will have a good impact viewer unless they only take positive thing from there watching not learning the negative things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation for popularity relies on repetitive points about 'twists' and 'curiosity'. The personal opinion section is somewhat underdeveloped, particularly the claim that crime dramas help children understand the 'prons and cons' of life, which lacks logical depth. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, and the argument lacks the necessary extension to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence is thin.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Starting with major reason' and 'After that the anther reason'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While there is a logical progression from the reasons for popularity to the personal opinion, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the transitions limit the coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'attack people mindset' instead of 'capture the audience's attention' and 'Money hessite' (likely referring to 'Money Heist'). The phrase 'Prons and cons' is a misspelling of 'pros and cons'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. The repetition of words like 'dramas', 'crime', and 'trending' further restricts the lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'who commit the crime' (should be 'commits'), 'how the officer solve' (should be 'solves'), and 'people who don't aware' (should be 'are not aware'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic subject-verb agreement and word forms prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
