Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for an opinion on the popularity of crime novels and TV crime dramas, but the essay discusses online shopping. Consequently, the task is not addressed. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which further impacts the score. Because the content does not relate to the prompt, it is impossible to evaluate the development of ideas regarding the specific topic provided. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt and ensure your essay directly answers the specific questions asked. Staying on topic is the most critical requirement for a passing score in Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical progression is hindered by the fact that the content is irrelevant to the prompt. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as starting a sentence with 'Although ,' followed by a comma. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a coherent argument related to the task makes the overall structure ineffective. To improve, focus on linking sentences logically and ensuring that each paragraph contributes to answering the specific question asked in the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'cheaking', 'benifit', 'conviniance', and 'devlopment'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'purchase product' (should be plural) and 'as compare to' (should be 'compared to'). To improve, work on expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and correct collocations. Using a wider variety of synonyms would also help to make your writing more engaging and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'deliveries can be delay' (should be 'delayed'), 'there are also concern' (should be 'concerns'), and 'as compare to' (should be 'compared to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors is high. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and consistent punctuation. Reviewing basic sentence construction will help you reduce the number of errors and improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
