Student answer (Band 6.0)
In various nations, crime thriller books and daily-soaps have been becoming famous among people. These novels and dramas are getting popularity due to arousal of unique suspense in the minds of public. I believe such texts and videos of crime fiction stories enhance problem solving skill among the viewers and readers.
The prime reason behind the popularity of such crime dramas and books is suspense to solve the mystery of criminal cases. In other words, people become curious to find the guilty and reason behind the illegal actions by the culprit. Hence, they spend most of their time to watch shows and read books related to serial killers, thieves and various culprits. For example the novel "Oliver Twist" is the world famous due to strange story of a thief and show "Money Heist" got millions views all over the world and dubbed in about 25 languages.
However, these shows are very beneficial to promote scientific attitude among those who read and watch crime thriller content. In this way, they start thinking divergently to solve a single problem after observing the situation as secret agents and officers use various tactics to solve complex cases. As a result there problem solving skill is improved and it help them to increase their imagination power and observation skill. For instance, In India, a decade ago, a serial named "CID" influenced many youngsters and children to build their career in the field of civil services.
In conclusion, It can be said that crime shows and novels become famous due to its strange, and suspensive stories and help readers and viewers to become a good problem solver and keen observer.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion on the genre. The ideas are relevant, such as the appeal of suspense and the potential for developing problem-solving skills. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the link between watching crime dramas and career choices in civil services is an interesting point but lacks sufficient explanation to be fully persuasive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by more detailed reasoning or a more nuanced exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In other words', 'Hence', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the popularity of crime shows and the benefit of 'scientific attitude' is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'these shows') is always precise will help improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'divergently', 'tactics', and 'culprit'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'arousal of unique suspense' is not a natural collocation, and 'daily-soaps' is informal. Additionally, there are minor errors such as 'the world famous' (should be 'world-famous') and 'there problem solving skill' (should be 'their'). To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and proofreading for small errors that can detract from the professional tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the' world famous), incorrect pluralization ('millions views'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('crime shows and novels become famous'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and article placement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
