Student answer (Band 6.0)
Currently, majority of countries has observed a trend of high interest in crime related tv shows and books. Today, people are preferring these kind of shows and novels to entertain. the reason being that such a tv shows and books are marketed through media to a large extent. however, I believe that this trend has more negative repercussions which I will discuss in this essay.
Primarily, the reasons for such hike in this trend is media. Majority of the media sources market this shows and books before the release by the creators. Because this kind of shows takes high amount of investment to produce, the creators spend enormously high capital for return. Also to make it more popular, celebrities and well known people are offered such movies. Moreover, this kind of shows have a highly interesting cliff hangers and thrill. In result, audience find it enjoyable. For instance, the chase of criminal and solving mysterious crime provides sensory pleasure for the audience with results in higher fame.
On the flip side I differ to this trend, because such amount of content can result in higher rates of crime. Such trend can be negatively influenced and can revert back to higher criminal rates. For example, if more and more people watch these kind of content, criminal activities will be justified in their mindset. Also I believe that such kind of contend needs to be monitored through government. To give reason, If Children's started watching these content then this trend can lead to higher number of juvenile crime.
In conclusion, paid advertisements and celebrities can be reason for higher crime related books or tv shows to consume, though in my opinion it can result in higher number of crimes. so, it needs to monitored through higher authorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the writer mentions marketing and 'sensory pleasure' as reasons, these points are not fully explored. The opinion section is clear, but the argument that crime dramas lead to higher crime rates is asserted rather than supported with convincing logic or specific examples. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your claims, ensuring that your reasoning is more persuasive and less generalized.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To give reason' or 'In result'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'this kind of shows' which appears multiple times with grammatical inconsistencies. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring consistent referencing would help the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. However, there is a lack of flexibility and precision. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'hike in this trend', 'revert back to higher criminal rates', and 'contend' instead of 'content'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive phrasing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary, while also ensuring that words are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'majority of countries has observed', 'this kind of shows takes'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'If Children's started watching'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent pluralization will significantly improve the quality of your writing.
