Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for popularity and personal opinion—the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about 'young minds' is mentioned but lacks specific examples or a deeper exploration of the societal implications. The position is clear, but the brevity prevents a fully extended response. To improve, you must expand on your points with concrete examples and provide a more comprehensive analysis to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a higher level of task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions like 'Moreover' and 'To conclude' are used, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the thrill of crime stories and the negative impact on young minds is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas flow more naturally from one to the next would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'series shows' instead of 'television series' and 'non forgiving' instead of 'unforgiving'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'Thsi', 'facinating', 'imapct', and 'dipict'. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and collocations. Expanding your range of topic-specific terminology related to media and sociology would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Crime stories gives', 'Young adults tries') and awkward sentence construction ('Reason being movies are directed such ways that seems like real life incidences'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
