Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially. While you acknowledge the popularity of crime fiction, the explanation for this popularity is weak and largely irrelevant, focusing on the transition from newspapers to the internet rather than the psychological or entertainment appeal of the genre. Furthermore, the argument that people are training their children to make crime videos to earn money is a significant digression that does not answer the 'why' or 'opinion' parts of the prompt effectively. The position is stated but lacks logical development and relevant supporting examples related to the genre itself.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. Ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, and the paragraphing is insufficient, with the majority of the content compressed into a single, rambling paragraph. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making it difficult to follow the flow of your argument. For example, the transition between the discussion of newspapers and the claim about children making crime videos is abrupt and lacks a logical link. The conclusion does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a coherent final thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. You frequently use simple phrases like 'very common', 'very aware', and 'very interested'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'positive knowledge of the world' and 'full sort of joy', which sound unnatural. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to media, entertainment, and societal trends, and practice using synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with verb tenses ('They were become very aware'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or run-on, and there is a lack of complex structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb forms, and improving your control over punctuation and capitalization.
