Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for popularity and your personal opinion. However, the essay falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which impacts the overall development of your ideas. While you mention critical thinking and social awareness, these points could be expanded with more specific examples to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, but the brevity limits the depth of the argument. To improve, ensure you fully develop each paragraph with concrete illustrations or personal experiences to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Owing to this , these programs gain the popularity'. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'intellectual stimulation', 'inconsistencies', and 'corruption'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Crime has been become superior topics' (should be 'a popular topic') and 'rise public awareness' (should be 'raise'). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'issuses' and 'drams'. While these do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary and better attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Stories which contains'), incorrect verb forms ('need to solve' instead of 'need to be solved'), and punctuation errors (spaces before commas). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly without missing auxiliary verbs or incorrect prepositions.
