Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you identify reasons for the popularity of crime fiction (such as public interest and the influence of dramas), the arguments lack depth and clarity. The explanation regarding 'fake habits' and the economic impact is difficult to follow and does not fully explain why these genres are popular from a psychological or entertainment perspective. Furthermore, the position is clear, but the supporting arguments are not sufficiently extended to meet the requirements for a higher band. The focus shifts too heavily toward a critique of the genre rather than explaining its widespread appeal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the historical comparison of newspapers and the current popularity of crime dramas is abrupt and lacks a clear connection. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'They are...', 'This is because...'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader effectively through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic phrasing such as 'crime novels and TV dramas' throughout the text. There are instances of awkward word choice and collocation, such as 'full passion of love and attachment' or 'appealing to watch'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions, and the phrasing often feels unnatural or simplistic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'I will the reasons of my answer' or 'Watching people do not think that their lives are travelling'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage are present throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to limit the score to a 5.0.
