Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years people prefer to read crime novels and watch this type of crime related shows on TV's. This essay will discuss the numerous reasons of this increasing interest of crime stories among people such as a source of entertainment and to enhance their knowledge as nowadays crime has been increasing tremendously in real life.
First and foremost, the most convincing reason of the popularity of these drama's is that most of these stories are based on the real stories. In this contemporary world, the crime rate is very high. Watching these shows help people to increase their knowledge regarding the ways that criminals use to do such kind of offences. Moreover, parents can warn their children to be aware of such kind of crimes and to be attentive with strangers. For instance, with the help of these shows they can make aware to their children how the uncertainties can happen and how we can avoid these in case of emergencies.
Along with this, crime related novels and stories are the good source of entertainment. These always create suspense towards the end of the story. When a person read crime related novel or watch any crime related video then he wants to know the actual villain of the story. It develops creativity and imagination. Apart from this, end of every story is always in favour of truth which ultimately inculcate good values among public.
In conclusion, I assert that crime related stories can impart good knowledge among people but good choice and active supervision is mandatory in case of children. So that they can learn the the massage of story rather than copying the methods of crime.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and expressing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the educational value regarding crime prevention and the entertainment factor. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the claim that these shows help parents warn children is a good point but lacks specific detail or a more nuanced exploration of the potential negative impacts of exposure to violence. The position is consistent, but the arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'Along with this', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed. Referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing, such as 'this type of crime related shows', is slightly awkward. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'suspense', 'inculcate', and 'contemporary world'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'do such kind of offences' (commit such offences) and 'make aware to their children' (make their children aware). Additionally, there are some repetitive structures and minor spelling/punctuation errors, such as 'drama's' (dramas) and 'massage' (message). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the crime rate', 'the actual villain'), pluralization ('TV's', 'drama's'), and subject-verb agreement ('people prefer to read... and watch... shows', 'When a person read...'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'the most convincing reason of the popularity'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
