Student answer (Band 5.5)

Crime novels and television crime dramas are very famous in many nations. There are so many reasons as they want to more aware and active, mystery behind of this. I will also mention my opinion in the upcoming paragraoghs.

First and foremost reason is awareness. Nowadays with the help of new technology people are more aware and want to update their life by crime. People also feel that by novels and crime dramas, they become more alert and also get some solutions, if they will faced this problem. For Instance, Crime Petrols serial is famous for those who have huge interest in crime dramas. In addition, some people have huge interest to solve the crime mgysteries so they usually like to read crime related novels. Murder secret, murder mystery are some novels which are very renowed nowadays and it is also some people free time activity to solve that kind of confusing murder related puzzles.

I personally believe it creates the negative impact for our societies as sometime it will change the individual mind. To be more precise, people usually want to earn everything easily, they do not like to do hard work. By these channels, they find ways and also move themself in crime. Moreover, youngster will not like to spend time with their parents or physically activities, they like to read that novels. Thus, day by day there behaviour will change.

To conclude, I ponder rather than crime books or serials, people should spend their time in parks, physical activities or other side where they can spend their time in useful things and build their career.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding 'awareness' is a bit vague, and the argument about negative societal impacts is asserted rather than fully supported with logical evidence. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and specific examples are somewhat generic (e.g., 'Crime Petrols'). To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning by explaining the psychological appeal of crime dramas or providing more nuanced arguments regarding their societal influence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'First and foremost reason is awareness' is grammatically awkward, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'mystery behind of this' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'update their life by crime' and 'move themself in crime'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'paragraoghs', 'renowed', and 'mgysteries'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary, the phrasing often feels unnatural. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and proofreading for basic spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'if they will faced this problem' and 'youngster will not like to spend time... or physically activities'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. These errors occur frequently and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though the overall meaning remains understandable. To progress, you should practice using a wider variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences, while ensuring subject-verb agreement.
