Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that crime dramas increase IQ by 10% is an unsupported generalization that lacks logical depth. While the position is clear, the arguments regarding 'deep-thinking' and 'refreshment' could be better extended with more nuanced analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more realistic and that your arguments are developed with greater logical consistency rather than relying on anecdotal or questionable statistics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First and Foremost', 'In addition to', and 'To conclude'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In addition to, directors...' where the preposition is misused. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different parts of the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'prominent', 'offender', and 'hectic lifestyle'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'entertain own-selves', 'deep-thinking' (used as a noun phrase), and 'it can gives'. These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that word forms (e.g., verbs vs. nouns) are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Examples include 'current generation loves' (missing article), 'are not directly disclose' (incorrect verb form), and 'one of the web shows... is most watched shows' (subject-verb agreement and article errors). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To achieve a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentence structures are constructed accurately.
