Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The explanation regarding why these shows are popular is vague, relying on general statements like 'people like it' and 'directors prefer to make movies'. The opinion section is more clearly stated, but the argument that crime dramas directly cause unemployment-related crime is a significant over-generalisation that lacks nuanced support. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, logical explanations for the popularity of the genre, such as the psychological appeal of mystery or the 'whodunit' format, rather than focusing solely on financial gain.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'This thing influence people in bad way' and 'In many of countries' are awkward transitions or phrasings that disrupt the flow. While there is a clear attempt to use linking words like 'Moreover', 'However', and 'To recapitulate', the logical progression between sentences is sometimes weak. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the argument's development. Improving the variety and precision of your linking phrases would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'famous', 'people', and 'crime'. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'increasing significant feature', 'thrilled movies' (instead of 'thrilling'), and 'crime set scenes'. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, though the overall meaning remains clear. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to media and social issues, and try to use more precise synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('These are become famous', 'it’s gives guidance'), article usage ('in a recent times'), and tense consistency. Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'The benefits of making this kind of dramas that providing guidance to audience', which lacks a main verb. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear, grammatically correct structure.
