Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention 'curiosity' and 'excitement,' these points are repeated rather than expanded upon with depth. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which affects the overall task completion. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating the same points. Providing more specific, real-world examples beyond a general mention of a TV show would also strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'As a result,' and 'Furthermore.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'In illustration' (should be 'For instance' or 'To illustrate'). Additionally, the abrupt ending of the essay significantly disrupts the flow and coherence of the final paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, finished conclusion will help move your score higher.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'get more interest' and 'give huge knowledge.' There are also several spelling errors, such as 'skille,' 'Aditionally,' 'knowlege,' and 'intrested.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to literature and media. Avoid repetitive phrasing and focus on using more precise verbs and adjectives to convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'viewer wants see'), article usage (e.g., 'the one of the most important'), and missing prepositions. The sentence 'it relax dopamine of their brain' is also awkward and grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent article usage.
