Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is true that crime related advertisement and drama has take a first position in the market. Although this happen due to some reasons, i think this is not right approach to promote it in front of the public.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why crime books and shows are becoming popular. First and the foremost, most of the people are interesting to know about the world happening because they want to aware with surrounding issues that is why they prefer to read crime magazines rather than read comedy books and action books. Therefore, its take the first position. In addition to it, when most of the channels publish the criminal records on tv, they get more reviews and likes from others which helps them to earn huge amount of money due to individual interest in these related programs because they want to aware about that things.

Despite the popularity of crime dramas and novels, i think that it is not good way to become popular these program. Firstly, if crime related programs promote more on tv, it put adverse impact on the children growth. To explain it, sometime children watch tv alone when they watch that programs, they can indulge in worse activities such as robberies due to immature. Apart from it, it can create fear between people that is why people feel reluctant to go outside anywhere in turn of which sometime they can not complete their important tasks.

In conclusion, while people are prefer to watch crime related videos and drama, i opine that these channels should be restricted so children and people do not afraid to go anywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation for why people enjoy these shows—that they want to be 'aware with surrounding issues'—is a relevant point but lacks depth. Similarly, the opinion section relies on generalisations about children's behavior and public fear without providing specific examples or a more nuanced argument. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments would benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition to it', and 'In conclusion', though some are used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'in turn of which'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'that things' at the end of the second paragraph. While the overall progression is logical, the flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, which makes the connection between ideas feel slightly disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'crime related advertisement' instead of 'crime-related media' and 'worse activities' instead of 'criminal activities'. The phrase 'get more reviews and likes' is informal and slightly inaccurate in the context of television broadcasting. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific terminology limits the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'drama has take', 'its take the first position'), article misuse, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'it is not good way to become popular these program'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
