Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era of modernization, criminals dramas and novels are becoming the matter of concern. Despite the awareness in this contemporary era it is rising at alarming rate. I cant deny that this snag can be overcome by masses, authorities as well as families.
Certainly, the leading causation is that development of cutting edge technology. Thera are plethora of genres are telecasting on television but violence serials are reached at the top level .Nowadays youngsters have been very allured about shows who shows the miscrents in serials because these types of serials provides the information about the criminals stories who act as culprits so young people want to aware from such activities for betterment .
Subsequently, another factor behind this, crime fiction can sometime increase peoples awareness of social issues. For example, some television programmes show how police officers investigate crimes ,collect evidence and protect society. This can help viewers understand the law and justice.
additionally, that crime dramas renders an escape from daily routines. After a busy day at workplaces or colleges, many people enjoy watching interesting series to relax .I minded uphold that I have watched numerous television serials which are based on crime and i find them interesting about the motives behind different crimes stories.
In an inference, i espouse that, these modes of shows are popular mainly because they are suspenseful and entertaining. But masses should not watch such programmes excessively, particularly young ones, because some violent scenes may have a negative influence on their behaviour or create unncessary fear. So associatives and constructive steps should be taken by family members to watch this serials in judicious manner so no issue can occur in long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the introduction is slightly off-topic, as it discusses crime as a 'matter of concern' and a 'snag' to be overcome, rather than focusing on the popularity of crime fiction. While the body paragraphs provide relevant reasons—such as technology, social awareness, and escapism—the development is somewhat superficial. The opinion is stated clearly in the conclusion, but the overall argument lacks depth and consistent focus. To improve, ensure the introduction directly addresses the prompt's specific question about popularity rather than general crime trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In an inference' (which is not a standard phrase) and 'additionally, that crime dramas renders'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'cutting edge technology' and the popularity of crime shows is not logically explained. While there is a progression of ideas, the transitions between sentences and paragraphs feel forced rather than natural, which limits the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and contains several awkward collocations. Phrases like 'violence serials are reached at the top level' and 'associatives and constructive steps' are unnatural and impede clarity. There are also spelling errors such as 'miscrents' and 'unncessary'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'suspenseful' and 'culprits', the overall range is limited, and the misuse of words often forces the reader to guess the intended meaning. Expanding the range of academic collocations would significantly improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'crime dramas renders', 'serials provides') and article usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing and comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms before submitting.
