Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, It is viewed that action and crime related movies and books are becoming more and more eminent. It is because today's new generation like it more and make them full of energy and action which can adversely affect their mind and involuntary encourage them to indulge in any illegal activities. According to my perspective, these type of TV shows and books should contain a good message and legally restricted for children.
To commence with, crime movies or novels shows many real types of illegal activities that individuals get influence from them. To explain it, these types of shows express someone's emotions in a way that other persons who are watching it feel that emotion with their own life and give them some kind of energy to feel it. For instance, if a person in a movie faced criticism from others and gradually, he become villain. Hence, this is real type of problems that many of individuals face in their life in different ways and watching this kind of stuff give them idea to get rid from this.
Another reason is such kind of novels or dramas presents action moves that are loved by this era's modern youngsters. Individuals like actions or dialogues that influence them to feel them in their real life. For instance, Some crime fiction movies shows how to become rich by doing illegal activities or using shorter way instead struggling and hardworking which unintentionally encourage them. Thus, they find it interesting and influencing.
To conclude it, it is clear from the facts of its popularity are presenting crime in a way people feel in their daily life or its encouraging nature. These kinds of movies or books should express a good message or results after indulging in crime in its content so that people do not involve in crime and also should be restricted for children because they do not have proper understanding of what is wrong or write.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and your personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument that crime shows provide 'energy' or 'emotions' is vague and could be better explained with more concrete examples of why audiences find these themes compelling (e.g., the psychological appeal of mystery or the cathartic nature of justice). While you state your opinion that these shows should be restricted for children, the reasoning remains a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than circling back to the same general ideas about 'illegal activities'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Another reason', and 'To conclude it' to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the connection between sentences can be slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between discussing the emotional impact of movies and the specific example of a villain's origin story is a bit abrupt. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., using 'the latter' or 'such narratives' instead of repeating 'these types of shows') would help the text flow more naturally and improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'illegal activities' and 'crime', which limits your lexical range. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'get rid from this' and 'wrong or write' (which appears to be a spelling error for 'right'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and topic-specific collocations. For example, instead of 'eminent', you could use 'prevalent' or 'ubiquitous'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more nuanced terms related to media consumption and psychological impact would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'new generation like it'), article usage (e.g., 'in a way that other persons'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'it is viewed that'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct relative clauses and prepositions. Reducing the frequency of these minor errors will make your writing much more professional and accurate.
