Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for popularity and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation for why these shows are popular is somewhat superficial, focusing heavily on the negative aspect of 'learning tricks' rather than the psychological appeal of mystery or entertainment. The example provided is anecdotal and lacks a clear connection to the broader societal trend. While a position is clear, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth, preventing the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should explore more diverse reasons for the popularity of the genre, such as the thrill of solving puzzles or the escapism these narratives offer.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, such as the jump from the general introduction to the specific example in the second paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as 'According to survey' and 'In conclusion, according to my opinion'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'share a crime series', 'aware from any tragedy', and 'doing a crime'. The phrase 'half of the decade' is used incorrectly in context, and 'divert own mind' is unnatural. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic vocabulary restrict the score. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to express your ideas more accurately and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('he start harassing', 'he explain he learn'), article usage, and tense consistency ('he was starting reading', 'he completed five volume'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'government should ban these types of dramas which will be dangerous to the human being'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
