Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays , corrupt films and novels are on the increase.I completely agree with this opinion.I will give my reasons in this essay.
On the one hand, I totally agreed that crime cinema's and crime literature books are high in some countries, this because people derived joy in something that does not teach good morals, for example, in some countries, whether married or not married sees sex as something that is good and most people both young and old watch or read how to practice sexual intercorse outside wedlock through cinema or from reading novels. This has resulted in high rate of sexually transmitted diseases in many countries.
On the other hand, another reason for my view is that watching corrupt television drama or reading crime number will increase the rate of kidnapping and stealing in so many countries. For instance, alot of kidnappers and armed robbers we have today was as a result of watching crime films and story books that showed where people were collected what did not belong to them like collecting someone's car, money, electrical parts and so on.Also, people go naked on street because after watching the actresses or actors attire outfits that is seductive they will purchase a similar cloth and style without checking the moral implication. All this will lead to problems in some countries.
In conclusion, I totally agreed that crime television shows and crime novels are on a high side because people derives joy in watching or reading stories that does not have a good moral value. Therefore, government should make effort by creating committee that will go through any film produced for masses or no

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but suffers from a significant misunderstanding of the topic. The prompt asks about 'crime novels and TV crime dramas' (e.g., detective stories, thrillers), but you have interpreted 'crime' as 'corrupt' or 'immoral' content, focusing on sexual content and general criminality. This misinterpretation means you have not fully addressed the specific nature of the genre mentioned in the prompt. While you provide reasons for your opinion, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack the nuance required for a higher band score. To improve, ensure you carefully analyze the specific subject matter of the prompt before beginning your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', but the internal flow of sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between crime fiction and specific criminal acts like kidnapping is asserted without logical development. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows naturally into the next will help improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. You frequently use the word 'corrupt' to describe films and novels, which is not the standard collocation for this genre. There are also several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'crime number' instead of 'crime fiction' and 'collected what did not belong to them' instead of 'theft' or 'criminal activity'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to move beyond basic, repetitive descriptions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people derives joy', 'kidnappers... was as a result'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to follow. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
