Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion. You have provided relevant examples, such as 'Money Heist' and 'Crime Patrol', which help support your arguments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why people enjoy 'unimaginable twists' could be expanded to explore the psychological appeal of mystery. While your position is clear, the depth of analysis is more consistent with a Band 6 level, as some points are stated rather than fully explored or extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally' and 'Having that said', to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'Having that said' is not a standard idiomatic expression; 'Having said that' would be more appropriate. Furthermore, some sentences feel disconnected due to grammatical errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'intriguing', 'adaptation', and 'precautions'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations that impact precision. For example, you use 'adaptation of characters' when you likely mean 'character development' or 'character portrayal'. Additionally, there are minor errors such as 'poeple' (spelling) and 'twits' (likely meant 'twists'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this particular shows and books provides') and incorrect article usage ('the large amount of audience'). There are also issues with pluralization and tense consistency, such as 'the Indian government decided to installed'. These errors are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band, although the meaning remains generally clear throughout the text.
