Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for popularity and personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'curiosity' and 'entertainment' as reasons, the explanation remains superficial. For example, the claim that viewers apply knowledge from crime shows to protect themselves from robbers is not well-supported and lacks logical depth. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The essay covers all requirements, but the depth of analysis is inconsistent, which is characteristic of a Band 6 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'In addition, watchers getting knowledge', where the grammatical structure following the connector is flawed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth transitions. Overall, the information is coherent, but the management of cohesion is not yet flexible or sophisticated enough for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'suspense', 'criminal activities', and 'critical thinking'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'becoming extremely reputed' instead of 'becoming increasingly popular', and 'give violence experience' instead of 'contain violent content'. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'youngers' instead of 'young people' or 'youth'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'it is source of entertainment' (missing article), 'if people found something excited' (incorrect adjective usage), 'watch that shows regular' (incorrect adverb usage), and 'it is provide form of entertainment' (incorrect verb form). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
