IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary society, there is a large talk where some people contend that crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more popular. I largely agree with this view as it not only keeps the viewers enganged but also keeps them away from boredom family dramas.

One of the most compelling reasons supporting my stance is that, while watching a TV crime drama, people start thinking about the next set of actions that would take place and will be blown out when they see that the scene was not the same way as they had anticipated. Moreover, these crime dramas have a lot of twists and plots, that makes them extremely sustainable. For an example, on a daily soap shows, TRPs are high when they show crime related episodes which will be played for weeks, and as the suspense comes out the viewers do not continue watching the same dramas.

Another equally significant factor supporting my stance is that, people read crime novels more as the stories keep them busy and gives them a tendency to finish the novel reading earlier. For an example, in the recent studies it was shown that Sherlack Homes novel was sold so quickly because of its story line and haunting variations which kept the readers tied-up.

Although, these can have many negative impact on the viewers and readers, as it gives new ideas for commiting crimes, people should be cautious and know their surrounding.

In conclusion, I opine by the view that in many countries crime novels and TV crime dramas are more popular than fictional shows or stories. And this highly due to the fact that crime drams and novels keep the people busy.

To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal or vague phrasing.
