Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is inconsistent. While you identify reasons for the popularity of crime fiction, such as the thrill of adventure and the realism of the stories, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, the claim about '75% of students' lacks context and does not effectively support the argument. Furthermore, your personal opinion is mentioned in the introduction but is not clearly articulated or developed in the body paragraphs; you only briefly touch upon the idea of 'limits' in the conclusion. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly links back to your stated position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'there are various type of points that why' and 'the first thing is' are repetitive and do not flow naturally. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, making the progression of arguments feel disjointed. While you use linking words like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', they are occasionally used to connect ideas that do not logically follow one another. Improving the variety and precision of your cohesive devices will help create a smoother, more professional flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors such as 'famous', 'good', and 'fantastic', which do not capture the nuance of the topic. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'humans are actually like to watch' and 'logical moves'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary related to the genre, such as 'suspense', 'narrative', 'psychological depth', or 'gripping', and ensure that your word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some films... tells', 'people are love to watch') and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'there are many writers... have captured'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels clunky. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of relative clauses. Reducing these frequent errors will significantly improve the readability and professional tone of your writing.
