Student answer (Band 6.0)
A lot of people enjoys to watch or read different types of stories related to crime scenes which is paving a path for them to become more and more demanding in distinct nations. There are many reasons behind their popularity. I strongly believe that it is a positive thing.
On the first hand, the most prominent point is most of the humans find it very thrilling as well as full of suspense to watch these documentaries. To elaborate on it, people like to watch various type of content in order get a break from their stressful life and enjoy these kind of series can give them goosebumps which relieves dopamine.
Additionally, a large number of people watch these stories in order to stay updated to distinct crimes. Not only does getting through them gives you knowledge but also shows you how we can avoid being victim of a crime. As a result, the chances to get scammed can be reduced.
On the other hand, some kids get influenced by these crime scenes in a wrong way. To explain it, many kids find it interesting how criminals execute their plan and wish to follow them. To state an example, a couple years ago a child murdered his aunt after a tiny argument and after investigation the police found that he used to watch criminal series daily. There are many more cases like this.
In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks of these scenes, I wholeheartedly hold the view that they can help the world in countless ways if they can be broadcasted with some possible restrictions such as age limit and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and expressing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the thrill of suspense and the educational value regarding crime prevention. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The point about children being influenced is a relevant counter-argument, but the example provided is anecdotal and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or broader societal implications rather than relying on brief, personal examples. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the first hand', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or unnatural, such as 'On the first hand' (which should be 'On the one hand'). Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The progression of ideas is logical, but the connection between the popularity of the genre and the potential for negative influence on children could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prominent', 'thrilling', 'suspense', and 'dopamine'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that limit the score. For example, 'demanding' is used incorrectly to mean 'popular', and 'getting through them' is not the most natural way to describe consuming media. Phrases like 'relieves dopamine' are also imprecise. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and ensure you are using vocabulary in the correct context to convey your meaning more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('A lot of people enjoys'), incorrect verb forms ('enjoys to watch', 'getting through them gives'), and awkward phrasing ('if they can be broadcasted'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels slightly repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of passive voice and complex clauses to ensure they are grammatically accurate.
