Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and your personal opinion. You have a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the points about 'education' and 'awareness' are mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating similar concepts. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation of 'why' these shows are popular could be more nuanced, moving beyond just 'suspense' to discuss societal escapism or the human fascination with justice.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition to that', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'by which people could obtain some ideas' or 'meanwhile they are utilizing digital tools', which makes the flow feel a bit unnatural. The referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of sentences sometimes lacks the necessary fluidity to achieve a higher band. Improving the variety of linking phrases would enhance the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'contemporary', 'integral', 'suspense', and 'psychology'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'inculcating education', 'fostering real life connections', and 'be find out that they are victims'. These errors occasionally make the reader pause, though they do not impede overall communication. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) rather than just individual synonyms, and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for formal writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('there are significant rise'), missing articles ('inculcating education'), and awkward phrasing ('if it might happens in their life'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, pay closer attention to basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and the correct use of articles, and proofread your work to catch these recurring slips.
