Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why crime fiction is popular and the writer's opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the writer mentions suspense and awareness as reasons for popularity, the explanation remains superficial. The opinion section is present but lacks depth; for instance, the example regarding 'Crime Patrol' is relevant but the argument about 'organic topics' is vague and not fully explained. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and clearer examples to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly misused, such as the transition 'On the other hand' in the third paragraph, which does not logically contrast with the previous sentence. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help your ideas progress more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be understood. You use some topic-specific terms like 'suspense', 'precautions', and 'manipulate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'trouble shooters' (likely meaning 'better at solving problems'), 'awares people' (should be 'makes people aware'), and 'in a wrongly manner'. There are also minor spelling and punctuation issues throughout. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'Movies, dramas, are usually being created' (incorrect passive voice), 'oftenly' (non-existent word), and 'as compare to' (should be 'compared to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions will significantly improve your accuracy.
