Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a concerning issue in most nations, that books and web series based on crimes are dramatically increasing and is famous among people. This essay will highlight few points why these content is prevailing and will give my opinion about Crime fiction books and daramas with relevant examples

To begin with, There are multiple factors contributing to this phenomenon. The primary reason of crime based stories are mostly liked by viewers because it provides awareness and assist people to take care of themselves. Not only that but also the society, thus such content is often made by the directors. For example, a survey was conducted by the film industry which resulted in a significat number of people are facinated about crime movies and theories that they expect more content releasing from the directors and writers. In addition, they mentioned how these stories made them alert from the surroundings and keep them safe.

In my opinion, crime fiction books and web series are a negative effect on the people. These content soon should come to an end due to the fact that criminal minded people can gain ideas from these stories and plot something similar to it which will definately worsen the safety of the surroundings. So that such novels and shows should be restricted from being published publicly. For instance, in South America government prohibited the use of crime novels and web series after experiencing the adverse effect among people after watching and reading criminal content due to that a year later the crimes in the country declined drastically.

In conclusion, Although novels and shows related to crimes are assisting people to maintain their safety, there are few drawbacks like people transforming into criminals and getting influenced by criminal content releasing through various resources. Therefore, I belive that these criminal based stories and shows should be restricted for every individual.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why crime content is popular and the student's personal opinion. A clear position is established early in the introduction, where the student states that crime fiction has a negative effect on society. Ideas are extended with reasons, such as providing awareness and the risk of criminals gaining ideas, supported by examples like a survey and an anecdote about South America. However, some arguments lack deep development, and the South American example is somewhat unverified and general. Despite these minor limitations, all prompt requirements are fulfilled appropriately, corresponding to a Band 6.5 descriptor profile, rounded to a solid Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical progression and a clear structural framework. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "To begin with," "For example," and "In addition." However, referencing and transitional mechanics are occasionally faulty or mechanical, as seen in phrases like "thus such content is often made" and "So that such novels and shows should be restricted." Paragraphing is used adequately, but internal cohesion within paragraphs could be smoother and more natural to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "phenomenon," "facinated," and "adverse effect." However, there are several lexical errors and awkward collocations, including spelling mistakes like "significat" instead of "significant" and "facinated" instead of "fascinated." Furthermore, phrasing such as "criminal minded people" and "criminal content releasing" indicates occasional inaccuracy in word choice and word formation. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ("this content... is famous" and "such content... are a negative effect"), incorrect prepositions ("alert from the surroundings"), and run-on sentences lacking appropriate punctuation. Although the meaning remains understandable and communication is not seriously impeded, the frequency of these grammatical inaccuracies places the writing firmly within the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
