IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's era, television dramas and crime novels are getting in demand. In my opinion, individuals prefers to watch them because they want to escape from routine and utilise them for entertainment purpose as well as to increase their awareness from criminal activities.
Now days, everybody is so indulged in their work life watching TV or reading a novel can give them a break from a exausted lifestyle. Moreover, there is a vast variety of platforms are available where it is easily accessible to watch or read a book like kindle and Goodreads. For instance, there are paid applications as Netflix, Prime video and Jio where viewer can enjoy the serials while travelling or even if they are on the break at work.Some of dramas and books are very engaging that the people get so involved in them.
Furthermore, people get addicted out of curiosity.
In addition, crime dramas can teach awareness about the crime that has been happening around the world.For example, there is a well known drama called crime petrol, in each episode they try to give audience a message about how to stay attentive around the world and it also teaches that how to get away from the crucial situation and help other's as well.
To put this in a nutshell, I would say some novels and dramas could be a good source of entertainment but it could be extremely addicted. It is a good way to rise knowledge but at the same time it should be watched in a moderate amount.
