IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, crime series and books have becomes increasingly famous in large part of the world. Thrilling story line, interesting twist and attracting visual effects are some of the reason behind this popularity. I believe, people should watch this shows or read this books only for enterainment purpose. Otherwise, it may cause adverse effect on the society as well as individuals.

To begin with, there are several reasons why crime shows and novels are becoming popular. Nowadays, people are becoming extremely interesting in watching crime shows due to nail-biting ending and twisting plot. Writer and director makes the movies or books with lots of surprises and unimaginable story. For example, as per one study conducted by times of India reveals that there is 70 percentage increased in crime and heist series in last decade.

Furthermore, modern technologies have not only enhance the effects of audio and visual graphics but also gives access to wide range of options to watch movies and read books. For instance, people can watch any show or read any book online through digital platform such as netflix, amazon prime and kindle books. As a result, individuals have access to variety of choices to watch or read, which eventually lead to popularity of this kind of shows and nooks.

In my opinion, people should be aware that all this crime series and novels are frictional story and should be only consider for entertainment purposes. Otherwise, people will start doing crime by watching shows and it can harful for society as well as individuals.

To conclude, There are multiple reasons behind increasing popularity of crime tv shows and novels due to advanced in technology, thrilling story-line and wider access to online books and shows. I believe, people should watch with resposibly and only for fun.
